This does not provide enough hydration in the winter or for severely dehydrated skin, but for normal/oily people like myself it is the perfect alternative to lotion when you can get away with it. It never feels like it's clogging my pores or leaving any film or residue on my skin. I use it at night after my thayers lavender and witch hazel toner and before my peter thomas roth aha/bha acne clearing gel.
