This scrub will keep you feeling refreshed with the scent of lemon combined with the pine-like smell of tea tree oil. The lemon acts as an astringent for the skin, and the tea tree oil can help with acne and redness.
Ingredients:
2/3 c of brown sugar | Light exfoliant
1/2 – 2/3 c of turbinado (RAW) sugar | Hard exfoliant
1/2 c of baking soda | Light exfoliant plus redness reducer.
1/2 c of extra virgin olive oil. You can add more or less depending on the consistency you want for your scrub. (I’ve also used coconut oil, sweet almond oil, and avocado oil in this scrub
as well. All were awesome so I suggest experimenting with them if you have them.) | Moisturizer and skin softener
1/3 c of honey | Antibacterial, moisturizer, full of antioxidants, and it opens up pores so you can unclog them.
10-15 drops of tea tree essential oil. (Find this at your local craft store or online.) | | Antibacterial, reduces redness, and helps treat acne
1/2 of a lemon, juiced. | Astringent
Storage jars (with lids) for your finished scrub.
Makes about 12oz of finished product. I divided them into 3 4oz jars.
Directions:
Combine all of your sugars into a mixing bowl.
Add in your oil and mix until all the sugar is coated in the oily goodness. This will help so that the honey and lemon juice doesn’t break down the sugars since the sugar is basically your exfoliant. Your sweet, sweet exfoliant.
Add in your baking soda and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the honey and tea tree essential oil.
Lastly add in the lemon juice. It should foam and bubble a little bit, but that’s science for you.
Divide it into your storage jars. Store unused product in the fridge, lasts up to 2-3 weeks. Gift this to your friends and help promote super awesome skin!
To use on the face: Scoop out 2-3 tablespoons worth of scrub and gently scrub over the entire face. Take a wash cloth and continue to exfoliate any areas that need a little more attention: nose, chin, etc… Let it sit for 3-5 minutes then rinse off. Continue with your favorite face wash. I recommend that you don’t use the exfoliant more than once or twice a week.

Giving your hair a regular hot oil treatment is a great way to keep it feeling soft and smooth, and this hot oil treatment works as well as the high-priced offerings of a salon, but with a DIY method that is quick and easy when you have the right oils assembled.
Homemade Hot Oil Hair Treatment:
Makes: enough for 2 treatments (medium length hair)
2 tablespoons organic olive oil
2 tablespoons almond oil
1 tablespoon avocado oil
2 teaspoons jojoba oil
2 small bunches of fresh rosemary
6 to 8 drops of peppermint essential oil
In a medium saucepan, heat a few inches of water on high until boiling. Then, reduce to low heat and keep water on a simmer. Place all ingredients (except the peppermint essential oil) in a heat proof bowl and place over the pot of simmering water. Let the oil heat up slowly and infuse for 30 minutes.
Check periodically to make sure there's enough water in the pot. After 30 minutes, remove oil from heat let it cool slightly until it's not too hot to handle but still very warm to the touch. Add the peppermint essential oil.
Then, transfer half of the oil to a heat proof air tight container for another use. Leave the lid open until completely cooled. Store in a dark cool place for another use.
Place the remaining hot oil in a small bowl. Cover your shoulder/cloth with a towel or wear a t-shirt that you don't care. It's hard to wash the oil stains out. Dip your fingertips into the oil
and gently massage the oil from scalp to end. When all the oil is used, cover the hair with a shower cap. At this point, you can also add a damp and hot towel over the shower cap for better result. Leave it on for 30 minutes.
Then, shampoo your hair. I usually shampoo twice after this oil treatment. Repeat every 2 to 4 weeks.
When ready to use the remaining oil treatment (after 2 to 4 weeks), simply sit the container over a bowl of hot water until the oil warms up. Repeat the application steps above.

Natural Exfoliating Foot Scrub Recipe
Ingredients:
2.65 oz. fine sea salt
.5 oz. walnut shell powder
.5 oz. pumice powder
.5 oz. shea butter
.5 oz. cocoa butter
.75 oz. argan oil
.25 oz. sweet almond oil
10 drops peppermint essentail oil
5 drops tea tree oil
Instructions:
You’ll need a digital kitchen scale for this recipe as well as a transfer pipette or dropper if your essential oils don’t already have droppers.
Begin by weighing out the shea and cocoa butters, then melt them in either a double boiler or the microwave. Next weigh out the argan and sweet almond oils and stir into the melted butters. Add the essential oils, then weigh all remaining dry ingredients and stir into the butter and oil mixture. Allow to cool completely. Homemade Coconut Oil Deodorant
1/3 Cup of Baking Soda
1/2 Cup of Arrow Root (I purchased some from Whole Foods, but I have seen it at smaller Health Food stores as well. It is much like cornstarch. If you don’t have arrow root accessible you can substitute with cornstarch. But I would only do that until I could get a hold of some
5 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.
Five to Ten Drops of Essential Oils. My favorites so far Tea Tree and Lavender. But feel free to play with all the different essential oils
Once everything has been mixed and stirred together, you can add more coconut oil or more of the dry ingredients to reach a consistency you are happy with. I ended up mixing in more Arrow Root to my first batch, because it was a little too wet in my opinion, but then after using up my deodorant, I found that once I reached the bottom, it had become very dry. So I might just leave as is next time.

Make your shower even more relaxing with these jellies that add a bit of color to the mix and suds up real nice to make bathtime fun. A great scent also helps, and these are something you’ll find yourself making again and again if you make them just once.
Shower Jellies Recipe:
5 envelopes unflavored gelatin
1 cup castile soap
½ tbsp. glycerin
3 cups boiling water
Molds or Jars
Food coloring (I used gel)
Step 1: In a measuring cup add liquid soap and gelatin; set the mixture aside so it can thicken up (this should take about a minute)
Step 2: In a large bowl or pot add glycerin to hot water stirring for a few seconds. Once the glycerin has been added stir in the soap mixture; stirring until the mixture has dissolved into the boiling water (make sure there are no lumps).
Step 3: If you’re adding the mixture to molds add coloring to the bowl and pour into the molds. If you’re using jars add mixture to a few bowls, and place two drops of food coloring whisking until the color has been blended.
Step 4: Cover with saran wrap and place in the fridge until the mixture is firm.
Step 5: Layer your jars and give away as gifts.

It’s the effectiveness of a lotion in bar form, and you can get smoother skin when you use these lotion bars made from shea butter and beeswax. You also get to use your choice of a few different essential oils, making these really special bars indeed.
ITEMS NEEDED:
Equal Parts of the following:
Shea Butter
Beeswax * I like the pellets because they melt quicker and no cutting!
Almond, Olive or Avocado Oil
Mold * I love silicon molds because it makes it easier to get the lotion bars out.
DIRECTIONS:
You have two options here, the double boiler or microwave option. Both are the same process, but I find the microwave is easier.
Give the beesewax a head start in the melting process because it does take the longest. Melt beeswax in a microwave safe bowl in 20 second bursts, stirring in between each burst. If using a double boiler, allow the beeswax to start to melt before adding in shea butter and oil.
After the second burst, add in the shea butter and oil.
Continue to melt in 20 second bursts until completely melted.
Pour into a mold of choice, you can use silicon, old deodorant container, or even an Altoids box.
Allow to cool for 1 hour or until completely opaque and hard.
