Baking Soda Banishes Acne
Baking soda, otherwise known as sodium bicarbonate, is a natural substance that helps regulate pH. This regulation keeps a substance from becoming too acidic or too alkaline, which is important in maintaining health. As baking soda contacts another substance, it naturally neutralizes the pH of the substance and prevents further imbalance or buffers the pH.
1. Curing Acne To create a paste, first mix the baking soda with clean water to create a soft paste to resemble toothpaste. This can be applied on the face and left for 15 minutes. The paste should be rubbed all over the face in circular, soft motions. This helps unplug pores, clear dead skin and destroy acne-causing bacteria. This paste can be used for treating rashes and itchiness on the skin too. This mask should be used at least once a week.
2. Clearing Spots Baking soda can also be used to clear the spots that occur after the disappearance of acne. These scars can be minimized by applying a baking soda paste with one tablespoon of baking powder and three tablespoons of water. This paste can be applied and left overnight and washed off with lukewarm water. This dries the oil trapped in the skin and prevents any marks that a dried pimple causes.
3. Exfoliating Baking soda has excellent exfoliating properties. Smooth, acne-free skin can be assured by mixing a teaspoon of baking soda with an often-used facial cleanser. This should be massaged softly into the skin for approximately 5 minutes and washed off with lukewarm water. This cheap, effective, home remedy exfoliates and removes dead skin and produces new, glowing, fresh-looking skin on the face.
