DIY Carrie Bradshaw Dress! Made From 2 T-Shirts!

You can recreate this dress using 2 t-shirts. This is pretty simple to make, but it does require a little sewing.

You need 2 white t- shirts. Plain, no patterns.

Cut the first t-shirt following this pattern. The bottom part will be used as the skirt.

Cut the 2nd shirt following this pattern. The v-neck is cut lower in the front than the back. The top piece will be used for the top and the middle part will be the waistband. The bottom part and the extra from the top will be discarded.

If you don't want the waistband to look gathered you can cut it to your measurement.

You interlock the bodice together and pin the bodice and waistband together, with the pins evenly spaced. 

Sew. Make sure to stretch the waistband to the length of the bodice as you sew. When the waistband un-stretches, the bodice will look gathered. Repeat this process for the skirt.

In this case, the bodice had come out looking unproportional. Sometimes this happens. No worries, it can be fixed.

You take it apart and shorten the bodice. You can also cut underneath the sleeves for a more curved batwing look.

Sew it again following the same process. 

To save yourself the trouble of having to redo, make sure that the bodice is the right length at the beginning.

This is what the final product looks like. 
For a more finished look, you can finish the neck by using a spare strip of the t-shirt fabric. Sew it on and press.
