“Nearly all of us get too much salt,” says Michael Jacobson, Ph.D., director of the nutrition watchdog group Center for Science in the Public Interest. Seventy-seven percent of that salt comes from packaged, processed foods. It’s OK to occasionally indulge in some chips, but high-salt diets have been linked to hypertension and osteoporosis.
