Eat Nothing But Plants For A Week
posted in All on 6/14/2014
When you say "plants" most people think of veggies. But there is so much more to plants. There are plants that are grains, beans, carbs that aren't technically grains, fruits and so on. I decided to eat nothing but plants (with one exception) for a week. I ate all that I wanted so this wasn't a diet. At the end of the week my skin looked and felt better, I had lost a little weigh, and I felt better.

Breakfast: this is the exception. One cup of non fat Greek yogurt + as much as you want of your favorite fruit. (Mine was a banana: it's quick and easy). The yogurt has lots of protein and calcium and works to keep you full until lunch, and the fruit provides sugar (aka energy). DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAS

Lunch: make it square. Shoot to have four items on your plate. Make two carbs (grains, potatoes, fruit). One a green veggie (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, green Lima beans, turnip greens, ect. Whatever floats your boat). And make one a protein ( most any kind of bean.)

Dinner: Refilling at the end of the day. For dinner try to avoid sugars. Try to have two green veggies, one grain (avoid corn), and some more beans if your really hungry. If not that hungry skip the beans. Dinner is the end of the day meal so you won't need the quick energy from sugars.
Tips:
1. Bread is not a plant.
2. Have a go to snack if you get hungry (mine was a banana).
3. Mashed potatoes are still a plant, just go easy on the butter.
4. Buy raw plants and prepare them yourself ( restaurants make "veggies" unhealthy)
5. There are lots of great recipes, just google whatever your wanting to cook)
6. RESEARCH: look up a the food pyramid, look up what plants fall into which categories.
7. Make sure you eat balanced. Get what your body needs from your meals.
