How To Simply Save Your Money

posted in Other on 7/13/2015
Hi! I'm Olivia... Here are simple steps that help save and keep track of money, and I use all of these tips and can honestly tell you that they work pretty well.
1.HAVE INCOME You can't save money if you don't have any.
2.GET A BANK ACCOUNT When you have a bank account your employer can just transfer your paycheck directly to you. I remember it's was required to have one for my first job. Plus, this way you're not carrying a wad of cash in your back pocket which could get lost or stolen. Get a bank account and your money can be managed and safe.
3.DOWNLOAD YOUR BANKING APP Your bank should have an app that lets you manage your account from your phone, it's important that you get it because now you don't need to get on your computer or go to the bank every time you need to check your money. Your banking app needs to be on your phone.
4.SAVE YOUR CHANGE Every once in a while take your pocket change and put it in a piggy bank or jar. It's slow but it adds up, by the time it's full you should have like $7-12 you can cash. Remember, it all adds up. If you have a couple quarters, you can add that to another couple quarters and before you know it your $3 richer.

5.DO SOME RESEARCH So what are you saving for? If your saving for something specific, for example a camera, then do some online research and visit places like BestBuy and Staples and compare prices. It could cost $400 at one store and $350 at another. Compare prices.
6.LIVE CHEEPER It's simple, just don't have such as an expensive lifestyle. If you want to have a movie night. Don't go and spend $30 bucks going to the movies, instead go to Redbox and watch something at home. Or if your grocery bill is a little high, some of the cheapest (and healthiest) foods on the market is beans and rice. Try cutting coupons. Paint your own nails. Etc. Seek less expensive alternatives.
7.IF YOU MUST SPEND MONEY SET A REASONABLE BUDGET FOR HOW MUCH YOU CAN SPEND If it's necessary that you spend some of your money, be reasonable and set a healthy budget for how much you will need. Don't blow all of your cash but also don't deprive yourself. When your shopping live by the rule, "Don't need it, don't buy it."
8.GO ON EBAY, SEE IF YOU CAN SELL SOME THINGS If you can sell some old books or clothes of yours, you can make close to $30 (depending on what you have, "more or less"). If you have little to no purpose for something, try to sell it.
9.DO NOT GIVE UP Be patient and persistent. Saving takes time so don't get tempted by a cute pair of shoes. Remember the big picture. :)
10.SET A GOAL AND ESTIMATE WHEN YOU WILL REACH THE GOAL This gives you an idea of how long it could take. So say you need $300 and you make roughly $55 each week, and you have to subtract about $20 a week for bills, you should meet your goal in about 8 1/2 weeks. Have your money goals set and predict when they can be reached.
11.REMEMBER MONEY IS IMPORTANT BUT IT'S NOT EVERYTHING Save your money and be smart but don't deprive yourself of a dinner with your mom or bowling with friends. Don't let saving money control your life forever. Have fun with your money, but never all at once. Save your money, and spend it on the things that will bring you success, peace, and joy.
