My Routine For Perfect Skin And Hair! (Morning And Night)

posted in Skin & Body Tips on 1/18/2016
Here's my routine for skin and hair, including the products that I use..

Most of the products are really cheap and can be picked up nearly anywhere. You can also follow the routine with any brand of product if you don't have/don't want to buy the ones I use.
Here's my routine for skin and hair, including the products that I use..

Most of the products are really cheap and can be picked up nearly anywhere. You can also follow the routine with any brand of product if you don't have/don't want to buy the ones I use.
EVERY MORNING... For my skin: - I splash really cold water over my face to 'wake it up' and reduce any puffiness. - I use a foaming cleanser (Johnson's) to cleanse my face. - Using a cotton pad, I apply Simple Soothing Toner to my face and neck, particularly on the T zone. - After waiting a minute or so for this to sink in, I apply a generous amount of Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser and wait a few minutes for it to sink in before applying makeup.
For my hair: - I brush through with a wooden brush. These are good as they don't tend to get stuck in the hair and also help to distribute the natural oils through the length of the hair. - If heating the hair in any way, I apply a heat protectant by spraying it on my brush and brushing it through the strands. - I tend to apply a very small amount of coconut oil to the very ends of the hair every day.. This just gives the ends some much needed moisture in between deep conditioning and won't make the hair look greasy as it's only right on the ends.
EVERY NIGHT... For my skin: - I remove my makeup using a cotton pad and olive oil. This is one of the best makeup removers I've tried and moisturises the skin at the same time! - Sometimes I'll use Simple Micellar Water to remove any oil residue before moisturising. - Next I apply a night cream and let it sink in for a few minutes. - Finally, I apply a thin layer of coconut oil over my entire face (including eyelids, eyelashes, brows and lips).
For my hair: - There's nothing I really do for my hair EVERY night.. I wash it around every 3 days as it is still slightly bleach damaged so I'm trying not to strip out the natural oils. - When I wash my hair, I use Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo & Conditioner. - After conditioning, I finish with an apple cider vinegar rinse to give shine and strength to my hair. - After this, I do a cold rinse on my hair to seal the cuticle and add shine.
WHEN I SHOWER... For my skin: - I use Soap & Glory Clean on Me or Clean Girls shower gel. - Then I use a cellulite massager on my thighs for around 5 minutes. - I apply Soap & Glory Flake Away to my legs and arms as an exfoliator. - When I get out, I pat myself dry with a towel and when my skin is just slightly damp, I use Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter on areas prone to dryness.
For my hair.. - After I wash my hair in the shower, I 'turban' it with a towel, avoiding rubbing it as this causes frizz. - My hair gets left in the towel for about 10 minutes, then I let it down and apply a heat protectant (VO5 Plump it Up Amplifying Blow Dry Lotion). The bottle doesn't diffuse the spray well to get even coverage so I just spray it in my hands and run through my hair. - i then apply 1 pump of John Frieda Frizz Ease Extra Strength serum to smooth and add moisture to my hair. - I let it air dry for a while longer then blow dry till fully dry, finishing with cool air
EVERY WEEK... For my skin: - I get a bowl of hot water and hold my face over the steam for a few minutes to open the pores for the next step and helps cleanse. - Then I apply a face mask. I don't really have a go-to brand and sometimes use DIY masks (check my tips for some recipes)
For my hair: - I apply olive oil or coconut oil or both to my hair and leave on overnight. - When this gets rinsed out, I apply Dove Nourishing Oil Care Repair Mask and leave in for 2-3 hours. - My hair then gets shampoo'd twice remove all the oil and conditioner residue. - I then do a 'honey rinse' (1 cup of warm water with honey melted in poured over my hair). The result is no different from adding honey to a hair mask, but when I do this I always find because it's so sticky, it pulls a lot of my hair out. Doing a rinse instead prevents this.
- The honey gets left in for a few minutes, then I rinse and condition the mid-lengths and ends. - I finish with a cool rinse then follow the same steps as after a shower.
