Skincare Routine For Oily/combination Skin Using Homemade Natural Products
posted in Skin & Body Tips on 4/19/2015
I always had good skin, but now in my late twenties, my skin has become extremely problematic. I have spent a fortune trying every product available to fix my skin, but noticed that it was only getting worse.
I have come to realise that all the chemicals in the products for my skin type do more harm than good, and you end up in a skincare cycle that costs a fortune but doesn't fix the problem.
I decided I wanted to eliminate all chemicals from my skincare routine, with the hope that my skin would return to its original state.
I will show you what products I use now on my skin which are way more affordable and really easy to make.
Firstly, make up remover:
I use coconut oil. Organic, extra virgin, 100% raw coconut oil.
This stuff is amazing. It removes even my heavy waterproof eye make up easily!
I just rub the oil on my face. It lifts the make up off of my skin. I then just rinse it all off in the sink with a face cloth and warm water! So easy!

Next I use a home made face scrub.
My face scrub is made from coconut oil, white sugar, and the juice from a lemon.
I rub this into my face and neck, and then remove at the sink again with warm water and a facecloth.

The next step is a homemade toner.
I mixed together 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar, with 2 Tablespoons of water. I dip a cotton pad into this solution and rub on my face, careful to avoid the eye area.
(Please do a patch test on a small area first, to make sure your skin can tolerate this solution. If it doesn't, dilute it with more water and build up a tolerance to it first)

To moisturise I use Grapeseed oil.
I have found that this alone does not provide enough moisture to my skin. So I use it in two ways.
In the morning, I mix a drop of oil into my moisturiser, rub together and apply it to my face.
At night time, I apply my moisturiser first, then use the grapeseed oil like a serum afterwards to seal in the moisture.
I am still on the look out for a natural moisturiser that suits my skin, so for the moment I use one from the La Roche Possay range.

The grapeseed Oil also works great on the eyes. Just dap some oil on the eye area to eliminate dark circles!
This routine is working well for me so far. My skin certainly feels happier and is definitely breaking out a lot less. It also feels less sensitive. I hope to see major results after another few weeks of this skincare routine.
