Spring Summer 2015 Beauty Trends by Lisa Niven From Woodstock waves to sweaty skin and the return of the red lip, see the themes that occurred again and again at the spring/summer 2015 shows.

Bare-Faced Marc JacobsArguably the most frequently heard words backstage at the shows were "natural", "minimal", and "real" - from the concealer-only look at Proenza Schouler to the wash-and-go hair at Dries Van Noten and Isabel Marant. This isn't the first time we've witnessed barely-there beauty backstage at the shows, but it is the first time we've seen models go onto the catwalk completely make-up-free, as they did at Marc Jacobs.

The Colour Purple Vera WangThe colour of the season when it comes to eye make-up? Purple - whether pretty lilac as at Derek Lam or the deep, smoky grape hue seen at Vera Wang. At Matthew Williamson it was more of a Seventies violet, whilst icy lavender offset the sheer coral lips at Sally Lapointe. We're in a purple haze.

The Return Of The Red Lip Topshop UniqueLipstick fans rejoice, every imaginable hue of red was present at the spring/summer shows, after the almost entirely lipstick-free autumn looks. At Missoni it was orange-tinged, at Burberry Prorsum and Zac Posen it was bold scarlet and at Topshop Unique and Dolce & Gabbana the lips came in the richest of smudgy berry hues. Welcome back, old friend.

The Off-Centre Parting ChloeIn keeping with the season's trend for "real" beauty, partings were worn neither neatly at one side nor precisely in the centre - rather they were ever so slightly askew at the likes of Jonathan Saunders, Christian Dior, Chloé and Roberto Cavalli for a more natural feel.

The Next Step For Brows GivenchyFor so many seasons we can barely count them, big and bushy brows have proved a mainstay on the catwalks. For spring/summer 2015 however, there was a notable absence of bold-browed looks. At Prada and Miu Miu they were drawn in as pencil-thin slivers and at Alexander Wang and Givenchy they were bleached until invisible - even in the case of brow poster-girl Cara Delevingne at the latter (though she did dye them back immediately afterwards).

Gilded Adornments ValentinoThis season the perfect finishing touch to the beauty looks was a flash of gold or silver. Piercings had their moment at Rodarte thanks to the hoop-studded brows, whilst gold lip rings were drawn on with liner at Dries Van Noten. At Céline we saw some of the most coveted accessories of the season - metal circle barrettes worn at the back of the head - whilst tiny golden shells and starfish adorned the romantic hairstyles at Valentino.

The Anti Cat-Eye Narciso RodriguezBlack eyeliner never goes out of style, but the way to wear it for spring/summer 2015 is from the middle of the eyes extended past the outer corners, as at Céline, Prada and Narciso Rodriguez or in a bold line underneath a la Just Cavalli. And not as a retro cat-eye - keep the line straight and strong for a truly graphic effect. Bored of black? Try Peter Philips' trick at Fendi and Christian Dior, where he applied strips of coloured plastic or fabric in the place of liner.

High Shine MarniNo more heavily-powdered matt skin - complexions were decidedly dewy at the likes of Marni, Simone Rocha and Donna Karan, with lipgloss used on the lids to reflect light at Thakoon and Blumarine. The word "sweaty" was even used at Marc by Marc Jacobs and Missoni, with Andrew Gallimore going as far as to create perspiration-like beads of gel to apply to the models' faces at Teatum Jones. See also Prabal Gurung, Jean-Pierre Braganza and MM6, where the sweatiness extended to the hair.

Woodstock Girls Emilio PucciThe Seventies was one of fashion's biggest inspirations for spring - think denim, denim and more denim - so it makes sense that the era had a beauty moment too. Woodstock waves were on show at Emilio Pucci, Marchesa and Anna Sui, whilst the shimmery eyes at House of Holland and the stars painted on the models' faces at Tommy Hilfiger had an undeniable Seventies festival vibe.

The Low Ponytail Giambattista ValliCrimped at Stella McCartney, bedhead-style at Giambattista Valli, sporty at Alexander Wang and wet-look at Prada - however you wear your ponytail for spring, wear it low at the nape of your neck as was done almost universally at the shows.
