Tips For Spin Class That I Wish Someone Told Me

1. Get to the class 15-20 minutes early to talk to the instructor
I go to 24 hour fitness and this is actually the room in the picture. But when I first went I got there before everyone else so I could have a one on one conversation. She helped me set up my bike and walked me through what to expect.

2. You will be sore
Your going to be sore no doubt but it gets better the second time. If you don't want to be you can always pick up padded bike shorts.

3. No one is judging you
I admit those people can be intimidating but they were beginners once to. Take it slow your first couple classes to get the feel of it. And I promise it grows on you so give it a chance

4. Always come prepared
I never leave the house for spin without my water bottle, my spin shoes, and a towel for sweat. Also dress in stuff to sweat heavily in (you'll thank me later.)

5. Spin shoes do help
When I went to my first spin class my feet hurt so bad but I sucked it up. Later I went to my local biking store and bought a pair of indoor cycling shoes. I noticed a huge difference. But they are pricey so figure out if your commited before purchasing

6. It gets easier
When I first went it seemed like forever but now my class flies by because I've gained muscle and my body had adapted

7. Make your own alterations
Not all bodies are the same and your instructor is aware (but do let her know if you have any physical limitations) I've seen pregnant women, larger men, grandmas, and 12 year olds in my spin class and they all do what they can. Don't be afraid to change it for you. If you don't feel comfortable standing don't it's okay. If you need a break slow down. It's your workout and your body

8. A little tension can go a long way
If you don't feel you can turn that awful red knob any more, stand up for a little bit then sit back down and you should be good. Push through it if you can. If you can't slow down and give it a small turn to the left.

9. Don't push too hard
If you feel a pinching feeling in your upper thigh you need to lose some tension and slow down or you could do some damage. If you still feel it get up and walk it out (pretend your getting a drink or walk out of the room) because nothing is worth damaging developing muscles

10. It gets hot
If your someone who gets hot easier your going to benefit from s portable battery operated fan.

11. Your going to sweat so hydrate
Just like any physical activity your going to sweat so replace any electrolytes you lost by staying hydrated

12. You will be more confident
I have gained so much confidence from this class. I've gained muscle gotten toner and when I don't go for a while I feel bad about myself but you will defiantly. Notice a difference.

13. Don't be afraid to try it
As I mentioned before old ladies do it, pregnant women do it, and young kids do it so get out there and try it.
