Turn a Terracotta Pot into a Mini Barbecue for On The Go Grilling.
posted in All on 6/14/2015

Because your barbecue grill won't fit into a picnic basket!
When you pack a picnic, you prepare your meal in advance and package it to stay fresh. And unless your picnic location has on-site grills, delicious grilled fare is usually off the table. But now, thanks to this clever repurposing idea from Household Hacker, you can combine these two signature summer gatherings—a picnic and a barbecue—into one epic outdoor food adventure. Here's how to turn an inexpensive terracotta pot into a mini barbecue in just six steps:

1. Start off with a terracotta pot (it's okay if it's been used already—just clean it out to get rid of any lingering dirt).

2. Next, you need a surface to cook on—any type of metal mesh should work. Cut it in a circle so that it's a similar size to the top of your clay pot. Put aside for later.

3. Line the inside of your pot with tinfoil, making sure to cover the hole at the bottom.

4. Pour charcoal inside, filling the pot up to about two inches from the bottom.

5. Light the charcoal and put your grill top on. It will take about 10 minutes to heat up.
6. It's time to get cooking
