15 Home Remedies For Bumps On Arms And Upper Legs
1. Baking Soda: Baking soda is an excellent homemade exfoliant. This will help to remove the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and deeply cleans the skin pores. Method: Take 2 – 3 tablespoons of baking soda and add this to sufficient amount of water. Mix it well to make it like a paste and apply this on the keratosis pilaris Scrub (exfoliate) it for few minutes and then wash it off with water Do this process regularly to get rid of the keratosis pilaris. Or you can exfoliate with the paste that made from salt and water Or you can also use commercial scrubbers to remove the dead
cells and clean the pores. 2. Vitamin A Capsules: Vitamin A contains retinol, a derivative that used to promote cell turnover and prevents the plugging of the hair follicles. This helps a lot in treating the KP. Method: Take one or two vitamin A capsules and break them to open the capsule Squeeze the oil from it and apply it on the skin directly Massage it gently for few minutes and then leave it on for 15 – 20 minutes Repeat the process regularly till the KP has gone from your body. Or you can include the food (fruits like carrots, papaya, grapes, strawberries, tomatoes, etc.) that has
vitamin A in your diet to get relief from the KP. 3. Alpha Hydroxy Acids: Alpha hydroxy acids are natural acids which are mild. The lactic acid found in milk and yogurt will gently exfoliates the skin to remove the Kertosis pilaris. Glycolic acid (made of fruit acids) is also a popular skin care product that helps to treat the KP. Method: Take the products that contain alpha hydroxy acids and apply these on the affected areas Massage it gently for few minutes This will help to deep clean and smooth the bumps of KP Or you can use the lotions and creams that have glycolic acid as
main ingredient. Regular follow up of this process will definitely helps to heal the keratosis pilaris. Or you can use beta hydroxy acids to be beneficial for this skin condition. 4. Coconut Oil: Coconut oil contains unique fatty acids that are easily absorbed by the body and acts as deep moisture. It also contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that work inside and out by soothing the inflammation, reducing the redness, moisturizes and sanitizes.
Method – 1: (Coconut Oil Sugar Scrub) Take 1 part each of white granulated sugar and brown sugar Mix it well in 2 parts of extra virgin coconut oil You can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or honey for additional moisture-sealing properties. Apply this on the affected area and scrub it gently for few minutes Rinse it off with water and repeat it regularly. Method – 2: (Coconut Oil with Apple Cider Vinegar) Take equal quantities of apple cider vinegar and coconut oil Mix it well and blend it by adding a little bit of honey (or any other emulsifier) Apply this mixture on the affected area of
the skin and leave it like that without disturbing it. Reapply everyday to get relief from the keratosis pilaris. Or you can simply rub the coconut oil on the KP affected area before taking shower and then rinse it off the excess oil after taking shower. 5. Yogurt: Yogurt contains lactic acid that helps to reduce the dryness of the skin and also help to get relief from the excess keratin that gets deposited on the skin due to KP. Method: Take 3 – 4 tablespoons of yogurt and apply this on the affected area just 15 minutes before you take bath. Let it sit like that without disturbing
it and have a bath with cold or lukewarm water Wipe dry the skin gently with a soft towel and repeat this regularly to get rid of the problem. 6. Exfoliation: Exfoliation is a treatment that deals all about smoothing the bumps and thereby eliminating the bumps, improves the texture, eliminates the acne causing plugs and improves the overall appearance. For this, paste made of baking soda with water, salt with water paste, lactic acid (milk, yogurt, buttermilk), mild acids (like lemon juice with critic acid, apple cider vinegar has ascetic acid) that can be applied on the keratosis
pilaris affected area to get complete relief from it. 7. Apple cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar has anti-inflammatory property that helps to prevent any of the infection in the affected area when applied. It provides quick healing from KP by cleansing the skin. Method – 1: (Apple Cider Vinegar) Take sufficient amount of raw, organic apple cider vinegar (that contains mother in it) in a small bowl Dip a cotton ball in it and apply it on the KP affected area of the body. Or mix a tablespoon or two of apple cider vinegar in bath water and take bath with this water to relieve the KP and
its symptoms. Repeat this application daily till you get complete relief the keratosis pilaris. Method – 2: (Apple Cider Vinegar with Coconut Oil and Sugar) Take a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (dilute it in water or pour it on wash cloth) Wash your upper arms while taking shower and rinse it with water Then take 1/2 cup of sugar mixed with 1/2 cup of coconut oil or grapeseed oil Stir it well and apply this by massaging gently for a minute or two Rinse it off and enjoy your arms (or any other affected part of the body).
8. Moisturize: It’s important to moisturize the affected area of the skin to avoid KP by softening the skin and bumps. For that, you can use the oils like lemon oil (has citric acid) to exfoliate the skin, green tea oil which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties to moisture the skin, camellia oil that has vitamins like A, B and E that are useful to the skin, cocoa butter (made of pure vegetable oil) that penetrates deeply into the skin. All these are excellent moisturizers that help to moisture your skin. You can also use commercial lotions like Jergens, Vaseline Intensive Care
and Lubriderm which are good in hydrating your skin and treats the KP. 9. Oatmeal Bath: Oatmeal bath is more popularly used to keep the skin well moisturized that prevents the KP. Method: Take handful of powdered oats and add this to lukewarm water Stir it well and soak yourself in that water for at least 15 minutes Pat dry your skin gently with a towel after taking shower. Repeat the same for at least 3 times a week to get complete relief from the keratosis pilaris.
10. Sugar and Sour Cream: Sugar and sour cream mixture contains lactic acid that helps to remove the buildup of keratin. This helps to clear the KP. Method: Take a teaspoon of granular sugar and add this to 2 tablespoons of sour cream. Stir it well and apply this on the affected area as face pack Rub this in circular motions on the applied affected area. Regularize this process to fend off the keratosis pilaris.
11. Cold Water Fish: Cold water fishes like salmon, tuna, mackerel, etc. which contains omega – 3 fatty acids that provides faster healing of KP. Try to include this cold water fish in your daily diet as much as possible for at least 3 times a week to prevent and treat the keratosis pilaris. If you don’t like to eat fish than take fish oil supplements on regular basis. 12. Olive Oil: Olive oil treats many skin problems especially keratosis pilaris. It is rich in vitamin E that helps to reduce the roughness and dryness of the skin.
Method: Take sufficient amount of olive oil and apply this on the keratosis pilaris affected part of the body Regularly do this to heal the problem. Or you can simply make a body scrub by using olive oil and sugar Add little of warm water and mix it well Apply this on the affected areas using a scrub and wash it off after scrubbing This process helps to get rid of the excess keratin and provides quicker relief from it.
13. Diet Plan: Planning your diet will always resemble your health. So plan your diet with these food items when you’re suffering from keratosis pilaris. Have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables of at least 5 servings each of fruits and vegetables should be included in your diet plan. Foods that are rich in vitamin A and E like carrots, mangoes, pumpkins, papayas, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, straw berries, etc. Omega – 3 and 6 essential fatty acids rich foods like salmon, walnuts, flaxseeds, etc. All these foods will help to improve the skin texture by regulating abnormal proliferation
of outer skin layers. 14. Aspirin: Aspirin helps to treat the keratosis pilaris with its properties and soothes the inflammation and redness caused by it. Method: Take few aspirins and blend it to get fine powder Mix it with equal parts of water and apply this on the affected area as a mask Massage it gently and let it sit for few minutes Rinse it off with cool water and repeat this mask application regularly till you get complete relief from the keratosis pilaris. 15. Milk Baths: Milk baths make a drastic difference with KP. Milk contains lactic acid that helps to soften
the skin and helps to minimize the bumps. Method: Take few cups of whole milk and pour this to your bath tub Stir it well and have a relaxed bath in that water for few minutes Or you can use any other milk products to clear this keratosis pilaris.
