Easy Cranberry And Vanilla Vodka
First you will need a sterilised jar Wash the bottle use warm, soapy water to wash the inside and outside of the bottle, make sure to scrub around grooves in the neck of the bottle and remove any traces of food, then rinse bottle well. Buy antibacterial sterilising solution, this is available in liquid form and tablet Mix the solution in a large container, choose a glass or plastic container big enough to hold the bottle and lid you wish to sterilise. Measure our water and liquid solution according to the instructions on the package
Place the bottle in the container maki sure that it is completely submerged in the solution and the lid as well Let the bottle soak in the solution, check the package for instructions on how long the bottle needs to soak (it took me an hour) Remove the bottle from the solution, use tongs to pick up the bottle and shake off any of the excess solution and place the bottle on a clean dishcloth to dry Do not rinse the bottle
Place 250g of cranberries in a pan with 100g of sugar, cover the cranberries with water and bring to a boil until the cranberries start to spilt Take the cranberries off the heat and sieve fruit so just left with the cranberries pour cold water over the cranberries so they aren't to warm when place them in bottle Place the cranberries in bottle with a tea spoon of sugar
Add a vanilla pod and spilt it so the taste of vanilla is more intense and place the vanilla beans inside the bottle Pour vodka over the mixture - can use unflavoured vodka or cranberry/vanilla depending if want a more intense flavour (I chose unflavoured because wanted a balanced flavour of the two)
Place lid on bottle and shake well and store in a dry place take out each day and shake well Once the favour is to your liking strain the fruit and vanilla out using a cheesecloth and pour into a pan then use a funnel to pour back into bottle
Ideal for Christmas present or present for anytime of the year Can be used in cocktails or on its own
