How To Keep Red Hair Red
posted in Hair on 10/7/2014

So you've decided to go for it and dye your hair red. Here are some tips to make it last. If you haven't done it yet be aware it is a fast fading color and takes upkeep to keep it vibrant and may require a change of habits.

1. So when I did my hair I used Loreal hi color because it dyed my hair red while lifting my dark brown color all in one step. Therefore when my roots grow out that is what I use.
2. Do not wash your hair everyday. Try to wash once a week. Your hair will get used to it trust me. It'll feel healthier which is super important after processing.
3. When u wash your hair wash it in the coldest water you can stand. Warm water removes the color much faster.
4. Buy red shampoo and conditioner. Personally I like to cowash meaning sometimes I wash my hair with conditioner only. Same concept as WEN.
5. Add some manic panic to your conditioner. Manic panic will not damage your hair. It is vegetable based. If you have access use Pravana. You can also use it in between as a color refresher. Sleep in it if u want and rinse in the morning. You don't have to worry about damage.
6. Dry shampoo is great in between washes to suck up oils and prevent the greasy look.
Hope this makes your vibrant red journey easier!!! This is what I've sworn by. Make sure to do a strand test!
