How To Make The Top Of Your Cake Flat

To layer cakes we'd ideally like flat surfaces but when we cook it they often come out domed shaped. To get a flat top your going to need
1) strips if an old clean towel the same width of your pan
2) safety pins

dampen the towel strips and wring out any excess water.
Wrap them around the cake pans and secure them tightly with a few safety pins.
Repeat that whole process with the second cake pan.
be sure to butter your cake pans, line the bottoms with a round of parchment and dust them with flour
Add the cake batter to the pans and smack them down on the counter a few times. This will eliminate any air bubbles.
Put it in the oven and bake away.
The moisture from the towels allows it to bake evenly resulting in a flat top :)
